This is a bit last-minute, but I’m looking for a PhD student to join a newly funded project at SUNY ESF starting Fall 2025. The work focuses on racialized ecologies, reparative land governance, and the layered histories and politics of plantations and forests in New York State.

This is some "but have you tasted cake" shit to defend "but, let them have cake". Precisely why they are so out of touch, they don't get that for most people, that is not a priority because the priority is keeping our jobs so we can have a roof over our head and food on the table.

A few tips for NEH grantees:
1) if you've spent money on an awarded grant but have not yet drawn down the funds, make sure to submit the paperwork to drawn down funds ASAP.

When people say things like that, I hear three things 1. I do not understand what "politics" means. 2. I am very privileged and therefore, I can choose to not be political. 3. I do not understand the difference between partisanship and politics.

Corporations in late-stage capitalism. Their product looks different from 50 years ago. Just coz you own or work for a Tech firm does not mean that you have progressive values or that you value other human beings.

Just coz a billionaire looks like you doesn't mean they are any different from the others. They all work in service of acquiring more and more of the same thing and you are just a means to an end. Hope those that drank the "Tech firms with save the world" coolaid realize that they are corporations.

I do as well. Data is field observations and semi-structured interviews. I am really looking for help to convert my diss work into articles. I wrote the diss as a book so its been an uphill battle.

I am looking for recommendations on a guide or book on how to write qualitative research for journal publishing. I know there are many books out there, but I am looking specifically for something that provides help for writing qualitative research for journals. Do you have any recs?

As a female academic in her 40s, I think it is extremely important to pay attention to ways in which you get worn down by the constant mini-struggles. As you age, it accumulates and you get to a point where you just can't anymore. This is not just about the extra mentoring or household labor.
