Fascism is a word that’s thrown around too much in some circles. Whereas other circles would be wise to spend more time studying its allure.

This is a good refresher on what fascism is and how it’s been defined historically.

From Robert Paxton’s work “The Anatomy of Fascism” (2004)

A Christianity that views personal comfort and “protecting our way of life” as its highest end will inevitably always feel persecuted, and will constantly seek ways to confirm that persecution.

It will fear things God says not to fear and create enemies of those God says to love.

It shouldn’t surprise us that every time a politician tries to play theologian, they end up with a God that aligns with their own partisan ideology.

As humans we constantly try to create God in our own image. But the God of the Bible, the God revealed in the person of Jesus, has so much more for us

One of my favorite tournaments every year. Congrats to Vermont, a program that’s been knocking at the door for a while now. Incredible game and tourney run. #ncaasoccer

I pray for revival & a gospel movement in the US. But for that to happen we’re going to have to untether our faith from a cultural/political box, with lines in the sand that the Bible hasn’t drawn. We’ll have to exchange the false hope of “winning” in this life, for Jesus’ call to give up our lives.

Throw in the unsolicited adult content, the complete deterioration of the search feature, and the owner making sure his personal posts were always at the top of the feed, and…yeah not exactly my idea of a quality app.

When it comes to the Church and any political party, the Church has to be its prophetic voice more than its cheerleader.

Any movement that seeks to leverage the cultural influence of Christianity to attain its political aims deserves to be critiqued by followers of Jesus in ways movements that don’t seek to do that wouldn’t be.

“The degree to which we’re tied to an ideological tribe and are stubborn/prideful about that tribe’s narratives, also makes us extremely gullible. The more we want all progressive/conservative narratives to be true, the more gullible we become to make that so.” -Justin Giboney #andcampaign

While Twitter always had its toxic elements, one thing I appreciated was the ability to find info in realtime via its Search feature. For example during a natural disaster or breaking news event.

Now, 90% of search results are trolls, bots, and porn. Legitimate sources nowhere in site.

A church that ties itself to politics is going to fail because it is, ultimately, relying on the strength of men to advance its cause and not the Spirit.

Like the psalmist writes, it trusts in horses and chariots rather than the name of the Lord. Christmas presents us with a better hope.

A central theme that plagues the political world in the United States today is that most politics aren’t values-centered or idea-centered, they’re opposition-centered. A mindset that ends up pushing everyone to the extremes.
