Thousands of people in Smale Park Cincinnati, gathered to peacefully protest the current administration. There were songs and chants and costumes and signs in the shade of the Roebling Bridge. I did a watercolor sketch to show I was there.

Messerschmitt ME-262A jet fighter, drawn in ink.

I chose an angle that would easily exclude the swastika markings. I like drawing planes and military vehicles, but today that insignia meant more.

As I sat there staring at this brilliant piece of deadly technology, designed and built by humanity’s worst regime, a family came by: two adults and two young kids. I overheard the dad say, “Those were the bad people. They lost. The good people won.” It made me wonder: when did our people forget this? When did we decide that the Nazis were the example we wanted to follow? I don’t think we’re the good people any more.
