Ah, Yastrzemski is gone. Rogers is gone. Doval is gone. I'm gonna miss those guys (especially Yaz)

Since getting subscription, the bright spot has been the pitching. Roy, Webb, & a stellar bullpen &Rogers was a joy. He put in a lot of good innings, got us out of many jams, and I adored his crazy submariner style.

His contract was almost up. I get why we dumped him. Will miss him nonetheless.

After a really good start and the Devers trade, I felt optimistic enough to spend $60 on the MLB.TV subscription. Sure enough, my boys started tanking. I kept hoping that they could pull it off but trading away Tyler Rogers for prospects is a sure sign that our season is essentially over.

Went to Frankenstein Comic Swap at Lloyd Center and bought a couple cheapish trades. Right next door was the "Market for the Strange" which seemed intriguing but turned out to just be a craft market for Goths.

I've been taking GLP-1 compound which is the ghetto version of drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic. Not generic, just...ghetto. I got a 3 month supply and it has lasted 4.5 months, somehow.

I've lost 20 pounds and several belt sizes but today was my last dose. The big question is can I keep it off?

I would be honored!

As far as award choices, it was mostly a good night. A lot of whom I was most excited by, weren't even up for nominations. I liked ANORA so I was fine with all of its wins. Conan was an amiable if somewhat hacky host in the vein of Bob Hope and Billy Crystal.

OK. ANORA is the big winner of the night. I loved 90-95% of the film so I'm happy with this win. I held off watching this film for too long. I didn't see until last week and immediately regretted not seeing it sooner.

Seeing how the awards have gone, I think it's either THE BRUTALIST or ANORA. Of those two, I'm pulling for ANORA

BEST PICTURE - I’M STILL HERE is my favorite of the nominees. It was human, crushing, incisive, and well paced. I got so tired of the maximalism of so many of the other movies (ahem, THE BRUTALIST) and would love to see an amazing story told wonderfully to win.

Yeah, not enough voters watched I'M STILL HERE. Damn it. Still, can't be angry with Mikey Madison. She was amazing in ANORA

BEST ACTRESS - It has to be Fernanda Torres, doesn’t it? The only way it can’t is if not enough voters watched I’M STILL HERE in which case I would bet Mikey Madison

Wow, Sean Baker is getting the biggest and best BJ tonight. It's weird to think that, a decade ago, he was making a film about Trans prostitutes, shot with iPhones. Hell of a success story.

BEST DIRECTING - I hope THE BRUTALIST doesn’t win this. It was just so overdone. I really got tired of the maximalism of this year. Again, I think ANORA is as good as Sean Baker could hope to be but he has won a lot, tonight.

Wow, Adrien Brody constantly swearing that he'll be brief and he won't be egregious while not being brief and being completely egregious is sure something. #Oscars

Adrien Brody. Yeah, his performance was good. It's weird that he's become this specialist of holocaust survivors. He's had a weird career in between his two wins, yeah? Remember him in PREDATORS? Weird that he's taking his speech as moment to shit on his past two decades of roles

BEST ACTOR - Supposedly, this is going to either Brody or Chalemet but my dark horse bet is Fiennes. He carried CONCLAVE, was wonderful, and is a well loved actor who has been great from the start (also, wouldn't be shocked at Colman Domingo though I haven't seen SING SING)

Yeah, Quincy Jones should have won several Oscars. I'm shocked that they aren't singing any of the many songs that he was nominated for. They aren't even singing the song from THE WIZ that he wrote. What even is the point?

BEST MUSIC - I think most of THE BRUTALIST was overdone but the music was pretty much perfect. Probably my choice.

Yeah, I mean it just had to be. What a wonderful film. Amazing that this is the first win for Brazil until you remember that CITY OF GOD wasn't even nominated.

BEST INTERNATIONAL - It’s gotta be I’M STILL HERE, right? Right.

The images in the film were truly staggering in their beauty. I might have gotten tired of the film but I never got tired of looking at it

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY - I think this will go to THE BRUTALIST and, well deserved. It really won the “I can’t believe this isn’t a Terrence Malick film” award from me. That said, I find it insane that NICKEL BOYS isn’t nominated. That would be my choice.

I thought that they were doing a special tribute to Hackman because he technically couldn't be in the IN MEMORIAM segment because he died this year. Oh well, he's definitely as good a "hammer" as you could hope for.

BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT - The only one I saw was ANUJA which I felt was overly self important. It was fine though with some great performances

BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS - I think DUNE: PART TWO has to win this one.

It's weird that none of these guys worked on the first DUNE.

BEST SOUND - Gotta say that I miss when this was split into two categories. RIP Best Sound Editing. I always think the biggest action blockbuster will win so, sop it up DUNE: PART TWO
