Iran Update Evening Special Report, March 1, 2026
The combined force continued to target Iranian internal security institutions responsible for maintaining stability and suppressing protests.
The end game in Iran turns significantly on whether the Iranian internal security forces remain capable. As long as they remain intact, it is hard to see how the people rise up and take back their country. Even then, the coalescing of civil society can be dicey. understandingwar.org/research/mid...

So Ukraine, fighting an existential battle against Russia would bother to divert their efforts to attack a NATO member while seeking to become a NATO member? This is embarrassingly bad propaganda.

How could executive privilege shield communications about someone who is not part of the executive? And if the claims are false, this intercept couldn't refer to a real executive action for which the president could claim a privilege.

Saying no so they do not deploy a peacekeeping force is a lot easier than attacking the forces of a country backed by a nuclear deterrent. Is Russia willing to risk the survival of humanity if they cannot take Ukraine? If Putin is really that dangerous, policy responses to him should be more serious

Russiaβs Grinding War in Ukraine
Despite claims of success in Ukraine, new CSIS data shows that Russia is paying an extraordinary price for minimal gains, with over 1.2 million casualties. Russia is also in decline as a major economi...
Russia is hardly winning in Ukraine. Their glacial pace of advances are causing enduring strategic damage to Russia which has little to show for 12 years of war. That doesn't mean Russia isn't dangerous, we need to create the conditions for Ukraine to end this. www.csis.org/analysis/rus...

Case 1:25-cV-02942-TJK
Document 74
Filed 02/24/26 Page 1 of 17

IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT
FOR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
L.G.M.L.., et al.,
Plaintiffs,
V.
Case No.: 25-cv-2942-TJK
KRISTI NOEM, et al.,
Defendants.
PLAINTIFFS' MOTION FOR AN ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE
After a temporary restraining order narrowly thwarted the government's secret, middle-of-
the-night attempt to expel unaccompanied Guatemalan children from the United States over Labor
Day weekend, this Court certified a provisional class of certain Guatemalan children who are or
will be in the custody of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other Defendants and
enjoined Defendants from "transferring, repatriating, removing, or otherwise facilitating the transport" of class members from the United States. Defendants declined to appeal that injunction
and it remains in place while this matter proceeds to final judgment. But Plaintiffs have learned that Defendants are engaged in a practice that openly flouts the plain text of the Court's injunction
and the statutory protections guaranteed by the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act
(TVPRA). Specifically, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents are returning
unaccompanied children from noncontiguous countries, including class members, to their home
countries within 72 hours of entering government custody, typically before they can be transferred
NEW: Remember when the government rounded up dozens of unaccompanied children in the middle of the night and tried to summarily deport them?
A Trump-appointed judge entered an injunction barring their removal.
But lawyers for the children say the government is trying to circumvent that order.

Top NATO allies believe cyberattacks on hospitals are an act of war. Theyβre still struggling to fight back.
State-linked hackers are increasingly targeting critical sectors with no signs of stopping.
The question whether cyber attacks on hospitals or threats to internet cables are acts of war miss the point. Russia and China see competion on a continuum, not a binary of war and peace. The question is, how do we deter aggression along the continuum?

Trump announces new 10% global tariff after raging over Supreme Court loss
President Donald Trump spoke hours after the Supreme Court ruled against his global tariffs that he imposed without Congress.
What is the policy aim of a 10% tariff that expires in 150 days? Most countries will probably wait America out. It doesn't change trade conditions long enough enough to reshore manufacturing. It might just be a short term tax passed on to businesses and consumers
