All of the doctors involved with Jeffrey Epstein should be prosecuted to the fullest and lose their medical licenses, we as a profession must insist on this

Senator calls for DEA to provide info on "incredibly disturbing" Epstein drug investigation Federal drug enforcement investigators targeted Jeffrey Epstein and 14 others in a yearslong probe first reported by CBS News.

This is a big one. A newly uncovered document has revealed the existence of a mystery Epstein investigation. It was spearheaded by the DEA and involved drug trafficking and money laundering. Epstein was one of 15 targets. The other 14 names are redacted. I've got questions.

Where I come from, if a dog kills or even attacks someone, it gets put down. Between this and the kids who have killed themselves on its prompts, it’s past time to take OpenAI behind the barn.

ICE detained a Minnesota teen, labeled him an ‘unaccompanied minor,’ and lost him The Trump administration is apprehending and designating immigrant kids as “unaccompanied,” even as their parents in the U.S. search for them.

ICE agents grabbed a 16-year-old asylum seeker--which they aren't supposed to do

They kept him from his parents -which they aren't supposed to do

They shipped him out of state, to a Christian ministry, which they aren't supposed to do.

Then they *lost* him.

Just thought of something and got hit with a flash of anger at the whole learning tech hype cycle. The MOOC revolution, microcredentials (which are coming back?), teaching machines, NFT crap. But you know what did silently hit critical mass and genuinely change how ged ed classes are built? OER.

👀The federal judges in West Virginia, where ICE has been pulling over and detaining people on the freeway, are literally screaming about ICE's tactics.

"It is an assault on the constitutional order," Judge Goodwin says. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I will say it is kind of weird how high profile transphobes who are Just Very Concerned About The Safety Of Children universally tend to have at most 2 degrees of separation from Jeffrey Epstein

What You Need to Know About the SAVE Act

The SAVE Act is bad. While lots of people are talking about the ID portion, It creates a criminal cause of action to put election workers in prison for (even accidentally) registering someone to vote without ID.

🧵If you’re pissed off that your government said “we’re moving on from that” about the horrific, unimaginable abuses and murders of women and children in the Epstein files, you are right to be angry.(1/6)

I once had to watch a documentary on spontaneous human combustion at a conference lunch, because the federal government would only pay for “working meals” and the meeting had to do with fire investigation.

I will eventually shut up about this but Bad Bunny’s use of the power lines is an outstanding example of how to communicate about climate and energy issues. Not about who is the smartest nerd in the room and spewing numbers but about people’s actual lives. Genius.

This just shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how to do news. Data helps, but data doesn’t tell a reporter to spend a years-long investigation into child labor or an editor to place staff in a country on the brink of war. What exactly does Bezos think WaPo’s “journalistic mission” is?

Epstein’s economic power among academics was made possible by a capitalist system that makes higher education dependent on the charity economy rather than a public good supported by taxing the rich

Academic Staff Expertise Is Largely Invisible (opinion) Universities are set up to recognize classification, not contribution—rendering the intellectual contributions of academic staff largely invisible.

"Academic staff aren’t included in recognition systems, so their work remains invisible; faculty don’t see them being recognized, so assume no significant intellectual work is happening; this assumption justifies continued cultural and structural exclusion."

People seem to have forgotten that the establishment of Homeland Security was highly controversial as it was seen as a danger to democracy. It was feared that it would one day be used AGAINST the American people. And here we are.

I actually think it's pretty easy to explain.

Younger people didn't buy into an older neoliberal elite's prejudices, the older neoliberal elite absolutely lost their shit at the notion that they might be called on to change, and fascists exploited that reactionary moment

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
