These cuts will increase the high school drop-out rate and dropping out of high school is positively associated with later criminal activity. This is only part of the dystopian society that will emerge from the Trump Administration's drastic cuts to education, DEI initiatives, & social services. 2/2

If the Department of Education is shut down, I can almost guarantee (as a criminologist) that crime and violence will increase in the U.S. in the not-too-distant future. The federal department oversees funding for public schools and college students, and provides student financial aid. 1/2
