In fairness this was not mentioned once in the Primetime debate and I think that was overall a good decision

Not sure there was much in the drivetime debate that would move the needle if one was undecided, little new (good or bad) from either candidate. Notable how much Humphreys was on the attack - if that will work or not remains to be seen.

I felt she struggled as leader initially to be honest, and there is little indication of a broad revival in Labour's fortunes.

But she and her team have now repeatedly proven very efficient at elections, and she's weathered Alan Kelly's shenanigans very well in the last few months

I will say I've honestly been impressed with how Ivana Bacik has conducted herself during the presidential campaign, especially given the opposition within some elements of Labour

Agree and I would add that it's genuinely upsetting to see as serious a topic as this boiled down into a gotcha, particularly by the self declared guardians of civility

This is a perfectly reasonable video to make in the face of an unprecedented development that has caused a great degree of confusion among the public. I don't understand the issue and I think it's a good thing for the EC to be proactive and engaged with the public

Genuinely feel the attacks on substance early in the campaign, even if some of them were misleading, were much more relevant. The current character attacks feel somewhere between desperate and embarrassing for those making them

I think if we have reached the stage where people are pretending not to understand what a "lawyer" is in order to attack Catherine Connolly, that they really do have very little on her

Yeah and it's not clear how many he will still get. Not zero, for sure, but if he gets say 3% vs 10%, very different dynamics
