I grew up watching Star Trek: The Next Generation, and one of the qualities I loved most about it was that it felt universal and uniting, like it was truly made for everyone. Multiple views could come together under the umbrellas of reason and compassion, and diversity was normal.

She thinks we reason like billionaires, where evil is acceptable if it means more money. She thinks Trump can buy our forgiveness.

We are built to live each day in the warmth of community, with friends and family and fellow villagers and a small, familiar social world that supports us. If you feel the pain of our chronic absence of community, congratulations... you are a human.

If you're coping with chronic illness, it's okay to take things slow.

I know you already know that, but sometimes we just need to hear someone say it.
