I could use a reverse proxy or a VPS, but that's too much of a hassle for what I want it for. In fact, I think (not sure) that you could self host a PDS, and the feed generator could be the same machine/LAN as the PDS, not accessible to the client, and still work.

Thank you! I gave up too after reading the documentation about the AT protocol, and seeing that there's no workaround, that the feed generator must be open to the PDS. I wanted it on localhost becouse of the baked in privacy and to keep hosting complexity low.

Yeah, steam deck runs on Linux, and thanks to that, Steam has really improved the gaming scene in Linux. You can't run every game, but most of them have compatibility. Check out if the games you car about have it.
