Out of the country right now, so the whole not spending thing not particularly relevant. But I wrote to all 3 of my congressional reps and donated to a go fund me for legal aid for the family of a detained, legal immigrant.

I am standing on a barren rocky ridge in waters and holding orange marker poles. Far below me sits a small cruise ship, with the glacier capped peaks of the Deception Island caldea behind me.

Visiting Deception Island in the South Shetlands during our most recent Antarctica trip. The work is intense but boy does it bring me to some incredible places.

Today is a great day to yell at your elected representatives.

One of my kids used to work at a Major Grocery Store deli, and they all rang up hot foods as cold for SNAP recipients.
If you work in a deli and can do this without losing your job, please do so.

I work in the cruise ship industry, for a US based employer who offers health insurance (many foreign flagged companies do not). Great! But also means I am tied to that job in a way I wouldn’t be if ACÁ plans stayed affordable.

Some photos from Charleston WV today. Mom and I and an estimated 200 people marched 2 miles from the federal courthouse to the state capitol, and joined an estimated 2000 people at the rally there. Fewer people in the square due to the heat but the shade trees were standing room only.

Did a short term foster for a local shelter for this lovely senior dog. His favorite thing was snoozing on the porch while wrapped in a blanket. Shelters are still really full in a lot of places; please visit your local one if you feel like there is room in your life for a critter.

The marine science geek in me is very happy.

Packed theatre tonight in the tiny fishing town of Seward Alaska - all to watch a showing of David Attenborough’s Oceans. Great documentary - and it talks about Papahanaumokuakea Natl Sanctuary and spillover effects in yellowfin tuna populations!

I don’t have the specific sorts of sources they are looking for but am reaching out to a local who might.
