I can barely carry a glass of water, but okay!
Is Creasy a 'whistle blower', then?
I take it Mahmoods office is closed today, and the phone line cut - which is why Creasy had to publicly object to the refugee policy.
(I'm not saying the policy is good)

06.03.2026 18:41 β π 29 π 11 π¬ 3 π 01. UC will soon be fully rolled out Thirteen years aer its introduction in 2013, UC will be fully rolled out in April. At this point, just under half of all children in the UK (42 per cent) will be living in families recieving UC. But despite its huge role in modern life, UC remains a source of anxiety for many. The Government must improve the system, and rebuild trust with claimants.
2. key problems remain Despite its long period of implementation, problems remain, like the five-week-wait for support, inflexible assessment periods, and the confusing structure of its online portal. But, there are aordable and fair solutions to all of these problems.
But technical or structural improvements need to be complemented by a fundamental βculture resetβ that puts dignity and respect at the heart of UC. The Government should work directly with claimants to deliver this possibly via the co-production of a Charter of Rights and retraining of staff.
4. which neednβt break the bank The sixteen policy recommendations outlined in the Foundationβs analysis would cost an estimated Β£400 million in one-off costs, and between Β£700-900 million in additional benefit expenditure each year. This marginal increase in the year-on-year benefit spend would be worth it to transform claimants' day-to-day experiences of the system.
April 2026 will mark a true milestone for the UK benefits system: the end of the thirteen-year rollout of Universal Credit that has brought together all means-tested working-age benefits.
This moment is an opportunity to consider how the system can be improved ‡οΈ

I think there's something weird about Trump - why does his entire female staff have to look like wax dolls?
Is there a 'mummy' thing going on?
chart showing Welfare spending as a share of GDPΒ (left) and in real terms (right), by category, outturn and forecast: UK
How has this week's forecast affected the outlook for welfare spending?
There has been little change, and considering spending as a share of GDP it does not look out of control.
Where were they? Corbyn failed 2 GE's, and the Greens were barely visible (but Polanski wasn't leader).
Hunger, debt, evictions, Windrush victims and all we heard about was Brexit.
'Technically' the PM doesn't *need* to get
p/ment approval for war. But seeking permission of P/ment is now standard practice - no?
Starmer will automatically seek cross party support, if required & I know a vote will be taken

Where was Corbyn and the Green party - when sick, disabled & poor people desperately needed to be rescued?

Is there any way you can be a bit more positive about living standards...?
Altho, a housing shortage must have a negative impact on living standards, surely?
Well, then we'll have a coalition government- but maybe that'll happen anyway.
Only the Tories can direct how people vote - but only by lying to them
I hope everyone on Bsky 'For You' is getting inundated with low follower accounts baiting us into watching the BBC - or is it really just for me?

I remember the 1990's (?) journey of Kurds, over mountains in freezing weather. Where newborn twins perished, with the grieving parents still fighting to survive.
I don't blame them for rejecting the US 'invitation', to join them on the battle field.
In the growing addiction to Great Wealth, we'll see many more of these incidents.
But can millionaires be cured? Should we be more sympathetic to their 'suffering'.
Why do they have to miss out on the simple pleasures, that poverty brings?
I take it these are the exact words the minister used - and, if they are, shame on that minister.....?
