I am That One Clumsy Mate.

I hear you, but...I'm feeling really wistful for a time when it was safe to ignore the news for a few days. That isn't possible right now. And yeah, I'm feeling the Millennial exhaustion of one Historic Event after another since we were tiny.

I was born in 1988. We entered a war before I finished middle school. And we never left. The promises made to me in school were made on the assumption of a culture that stopped existing before I was old enough to notice. I read about the precedented. One of these days I'd like to experience it.

All of it is heartbreaking.

A lot of us are wondering what to do next. Here's a solid thing to do. Get ready for the next nationwide No Kings march on the 28th. See you there.

Others who follow the path of many lives want to achieve ancestor-hood, or nirvana, or elder spirit status (depending on culture).
Next lifetime, I want to achieve Leaf Sheep. No stress. No schedule. Happy colors. Make my own food. Absolutely unbothered. Yep. That's the goal.

In the healed future of the United Communities of America, the sixteenth birthday is a huge deal because it's the first day a young person can vote as an adult.

Among the Wildcards, birthdays are always a big deal...though some people's birthdays are more about getting teased than anything.

A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nation’s people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else.

We mustn’t let this war do so.
