How can #carbonremoval 'Cross the Chasm'? Read on in Part 2 of 2 Substack posts I wrote on this topic, adapting tactics from Geoffrey Moore's excellent 'Crossing the Chasm' book to CDR.

All funds go directly to the finalist teams to cover travel & lodging so they can present to industry leaders in NYC!

My latest Substack: 'CDR at The Chasm', Part 1 of 2.
β‘οΈ The idea: Applying Geoffrey Mooreβs βChasmβ model, #Carbonremoval needs to transition from early customers who want visionary new products to mainstream customers desiring pragmatic, whole solutions.

Plus Brazil just enacted a law to start a national emissions trading scheme - excelente!

How can durable #carbonremoval stakeholders get off the island and integrated into the broader voluntary carbon market? See my latest substack for my personal take - plus a summary of LOTS of year-end VCM data from a variety of sources!

Thanks for sharing! Interesting chart they chose from Frontier dated April 2024; I would suggest @cdrfyi.bsky.social's 2024 Q3 update for a more comprehensive, current look:
www.cdr.fyi/blog/2024-q3...
I think that type of market environment could develop for CDR, but that's far from the actual state of the market in Q4 2024
23.12.2024 18:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agree with this 100% - 'gold rush' implies that there is a solid market with customers lining up in droves for a commoditized, highly valuable product.
23.12.2024 17:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I agree with that statement as well as a co-founder of a community of 3,000 CDR innovators worldwide and started an accelerator program dedicated to carbon removal

The first serious CO2 ship is complete. This is important for Europe, which has good offshore CO2 storage but limited options onshore. Norway is opening the first facility, to be supplied by ships like this. Note the sail in the photo.

27.11.2024 14:50 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0What are you looking for in biochar? I work with a few biochar producing companies
27.11.2024 03:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In reality your best bet is probably 1) more mitigation and 2) a diverse portfolio of durable CDR, as Fuhrman et al note here: iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...
26.11.2024 22:27 β π 10 π 6 π¬ 2 π 2See this example of the 'Great Carbon Valley' in Kenya which sees itself as a DAC + CO2 storage center, using geothermal energy sources: www.greatcarbonvalley.com

26.11.2024 21:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Depends on whether a company can monetize the co-benefits to reduce the removal credit price

My personal take is "both and": we need emissions reductions AND carbon removal per chart from @ipcc.bsky.social
