My mom’s hospital bed is being delivered in a matter of minutes and I’m trying to figure out how to rearrange everything once it’s in. We found out she qualified for the bed about 3 hrs ago. It’s all a bit overwhelming at times.

The story that got killed was for a podcast and I would LOVE to do more deep-dive food history stories in that medium or for magazines—just putting that out there for any editors or producers who might possibly want to chat.

I worked in Banff in 2011 and miss it so much. The Rockies are my mountains. I was born in a small town north of Jasper, so this mountain range feels like home.

Today I sat down with Webster, a tour guide, rapper, lecturer, author and independent historian to talk about his Black history walking tour here in Quebec City. Did you know Black history here is almost 400 years old, dating back to 1629, when the first enslaved person, an 8 year old boy, arrived.

I would, things can change quickly here.

DYK: The house with the red roof is the oldest surviving house in Québec City (1690). Today it’s home to Restaurant Aux Anciens Canadiens (1966), but from 1870 to 1920 it was home to the first Black-owned barbershop – run by brothers James & John Williams, Québecers of Jamaican and Irish descent.

Happy to share that I’m part of the new Québec Chapter for the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC). I’m in the role of President, which is both exciting and terrifying.

I popped up to the roof this morning. I’ve lived in Old Quebec for 8 years now, 5 at my current address, and I never tire of this view. I love hearing the noon canon, and the church bells on Sundays. Spring means my windows are almost always open, and I wake up to the chirping of birds. #QuebecCite
