I have no idea. CC herself described the iowa offense as read and react". Well, the read and react offense is hard to learn because it has different kinds of plays for whatever the opposing defense is doing. That's versatility.

What you're saying is correct: CC cannot do it alone. That's where better, more versatile players come into play. That's where her being off-ball would be a good back-up plan. The problem is they don't have the correct players to really take such a system to the next level.

Honestly, both sides are right. The system she had at Iowa where she is on-ball most of the time and they read the defense as she brings the ball up the court and react could be taken to the next level by getting better, versatile players and having a just-in-case back-up plan like off-ball CC.

Fever fans forget how stagnant the offense becomes when Caitlin Clark is subject to a well-timed blitz/double-team, when she has to sit on the bench for some reason, or when she has a bad game. The Fever need another good facilitator in their starting lineup.

When you have the face of the league on your team, if upgrading your team and taking it to the next level will cost you a good fan favorite player, you'd be wise to shove aside sentimental value on this.
