A reminder that Nigel Farage, Kemi Badenoch and the entire Conservative-supporting press have spent the past week lambasting Keir Starmer for not joining the Iran war.

Here's what has happened since then to public opinion

John Swinney: 'I won't rest until child poverty is eradicated in Scotland' In his Daily Record column, First Minister John Swinney says he will today unveil further steps to tackle child poverty.

Scotland has the lowest child poverty rate in the UK, and 90,000 fewer children live in poverty thanks to our policies.

But decisions at Westminster have too often held us back.

I want to fully eradicate child poverty, and Scotland should have the full powers to do it.

Dear Shabana,
I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank.
You said: β€œA party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to
make a perilous crossing on small boats.”
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton
and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government
who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division.
When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there
to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done
in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the
flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney.
As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking
points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I
filled water tanks and picked up litter.
What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop
the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country.
Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it.
It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping
migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and
croissants to refugees and food parcels.
When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She
said β€œwe have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for
refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers
whilst risking death on the seas.”
She said β€œmaybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on
the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …

Dear Shabana,

Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.

Proud to meet four heroes in Parliament today.
Sandie Peggie, the Darlington Nurses and Jennifer Melle.
They have shown tremendous courage and bravery in challenging a warped ideology and a culture of virtue signalling that rewards institutional cowardice.

An extraordinary and unjustified decision that exposed serious failures within West Midlands

My column in the Herald on Sunday: the Scottish grooming gangs inquiry is welcome.
We must also confront how our third sector has become institutionally corrupted to the point where it sides with SNP ministers instead of standing with women and girls

The SNP are taking the biscuit. They chose to turn Glasgow into sanctuary for asylum seekers through their own virtue-signalling policies, and now they want the Home Office to bail them out.

Trump, in his black-draped situation room cosplaying Obama, again. Sweaty, undone and tieless, he slumps flaccidly in his bin-bag suit jacket and a shirt. His face is greasy, stained with what looks like slept-in orange makeup, and he has set it into that "I am a serious man doing serious things" expression he thinks will look good on camera - and perhaps it did, in 1992. His head is topped with a white USA cap. Tufts of yellow-white baby bird hair stick out from under it.

What. Utter. Sh*te. Look out England. You're in for the same extreme negative reporting by the establishment and their media pals that we've had in Scotland for decades. No straw is too low for them to grasp, nor barrel so deep to scrape.

Well done - and good luck in the face of what the "establishment" parties in Scotland are going to throw now it's dawned on them you are becoming a serious threat to their dominance ! Those of us in the SNP know only too well what happens when they feel threatened πŸ™„
