Tip 2: There's a concept called "dual booting" where you partition your hard drive to install a Linux OS while keeping your Windows OS around and you can switch between the two when you boot up your computer. This is common, especially for newcomers, and it gives you a safety net to test OSes out.

Tip 1: Explore your options, especially the OSes that tout themselves as more beginner friendly, such as Zorin or Mint. But since you know the functionality you don't want to lose/interrupt, you can also use that to guide your research.

I switched to @zorinos.bsky.social right before the Win10 end of life, which was my first time switching to a Linux OS. There were a few speed bumps and adjustments, and a few more on the horizon. But for the most part, I'm settled in.
