The lightning caused Middle Mesa Fire has quickly grown to 1,115 acres in Rio Arriba County, NM near the Colorado state line. Smoke is impacting air quality in the area this morning. Westerly winds will push the fire eastward today, bringing smoke to areas along the NM/CO state line. #NMFire

So far, National Weather Service offices in New Mexico have issued more Flash Flood Warnings than any other year on record. Even if no more Flash Flood Warnings were issued, it would still end as 3rd highest number on record. #NMwx

The Albuquerque Sunport just picked up 0.76" of rain in 30 minutes! This makes it the wettest day so far this year, and the wettest day since June 2024. This also doubled our monsoon season rain total so far. We are sitting right at about average for the season now. #NMwx

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect Tuesday for parts of New Mexico from noon to 10 PM. This included burn scar areas. Storms will be slow movers today and drop heavy rainfall. This could cause flash flooding both on and off burn scar areas. #NMwx

The Rio Ruidoso rose 20’ in less than an hour, reaching a record breaking crest of 20.24’ due to burn scar flash flooding. This breaks the record of 15.86’ set last year. #NMwx

It's been a strong start to the monsoon for parts of New Mexico. Some places have already seen over 6" of rain since June 15. Areas in central, southern, & eastern New Mexico are sitting 400%+ above average so far. Northwest New Mexico has seen very little no rain at all yet. #NMwx

If you live in the Albuquerque Metro, your phone may have gone off with a Dust Storm Warning. This is why. East winds at the Sunport are gusting up to 66 mph right now, creatin areas of blowing dust and reducing visibility to a quarter mile at times. #NMwx

A funnel cloud over the Sandias! Viewer Luke Owen sent us this video looking east at the Sandias at 1:28pm today. You can see the funnel cloud quickly condense before lifting back up into the sky. Amazing! #NMwx
