In 2015 alone, the global North appropriated 12 billion tons of raw materials, 822 million hectares of land, 21 exajoules of energy, and 188 million person-years of labor from the global South, worth $10.8 trillion in Northern prices.

Calling this #ecoterrorism isn’t hyperbole. It’s deliberate, large-scale destruction of shared environments for private gain, without global consent. This violence isn’t just ecological, it’s political.

Ok, but if a president can defy courts, ignore oversight, and use institutions for personal gain (just like Orbán did in Hungary), then checks and balances aren’t working as intended. That’s a structural failure, not just a political one.

A politician who ignores court orders, mocks the rule of law, and treats institutions as tools of personal power reveals the weakness of the system. The response must be structural. Otherwise, democracy becomes a stage for personalities, not principles. 3/
