28.02.2026 21:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How about the go faster version? It's even got a spoiler. Flat out it can do 40kph.
28.02.2026 21:24 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Easy done. I got fined on the Caen ring road once because of a sign mix up & my stupidity. Empty road saw a sign that said 70, so I did. Yeah, 70 kph. 10 seconds later, blue lights behind me.
28.02.2026 21:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, there's a bloke on LBC you should listen to. 10am weekdays. Quite like him.
27.02.2026 20:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not to put too fine a point on it, but nostalgia has fucked this country.
27.02.2026 20:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ok, so in my 100 metres race, I tripped after 2 metres, broke my nose, sprained my ankle & my shorts came down, but last year's winner only beat me by 4 minutes. So who's the real loser?
27.02.2026 09:37 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I used to work with a lad from Methil or somewhere like that who once said he was fae Fife & I said something like, mind you've changed a bit over the years. Lead balloon, 20 years younger than me, absolutely no idea what I was on about.
26.02.2026 12:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Me, but I'm from Newcastle, my dad lived in Edinburgh for decades, and I lived there for years. So, you know, cheating a bit.
26.02.2026 11:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Still, look how far ahead of me they got. Definitely worth it.
26.02.2026 09:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cyclists, eh? Always jumping red lights.
26.02.2026 09:54 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0And while I'm on, turn the Town Moor into a park. Heresy for a Geordie, I know - "it's the biggest green space of any city in the universe. The beating green heart of the city. Our birthright. It's sacred". No it's not, it's a field. A great big boring field with cows in summer & nowt in winter.
26.02.2026 08:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Totally agree. It's like having a second river dividing the east of the city from the centre, but an incredibly ugly, noisy and polluting river.
26.02.2026 08:47 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0
Probably be fine. Yes, I'm sure it'll be fine.
Oh.

I don't know, but parts of northern Norway are closer to China than they are to Portugal. I mean, nothing to do with the subject, but there you go.
25.02.2026 17:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Having said that, on a rare warm day when I lived in Edinburgh, we put a couple of chairs out the front of a friend's place on one of the more picturesque closes off Canongate and had a couple of beers. A tourist asked us to move because we were spoiling his photo.
25.02.2026 17:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've genuinely had a neighbour call round complaining that a visiting friend parked on "his bit of the road".
25.02.2026 16:16 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Good idea. Maybe even put some sort of measuring device in the car that you could compare with the sign?
24.02.2026 17:33 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 095% of the time, neither am I. Just use a cheap folding one for shopping. Amazing what it can carry.

Just out of interest, I had a quick search. You might enjoy this (start at about 9 minutes). Very good amateur on a road bike takes on his mother in an ebike up a notorious hill climb.
youtu.be/5e1Svmq8pTM?...
That's the thing, isn't it? Why would anyone care? I've just done 11 miles (to work, with a detour) on a standard bike. I honestly couldn't care less or even remember what other cyclists I saw were using. Apart from the 5 year old waving at everyone from her mother's cargo bike.
24.02.2026 08:19 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0By the way, it's just physics. Say the ebike weighs 15kg more. That's all the motor has to overcome before it starts giving the rider an advantage (little things like aerodynamics and tyres apart).
23.02.2026 22:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"Given the same rider". It's right there.
23.02.2026 22:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sorry, but that's just not true. Given the same rider, a Β£3000 ebike will easily outperform a Β£6000 carbon road bike up a steep hill. And yes, done both. It'll also carry the shopping up the same hill as a bonus.
23.02.2026 22:15 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I ride my analogue bike maybe 30 to 100 miles a week, depending on if I'm WFH or not. Couldn't care less if an ebike overtakes me. I use my cheapo ebike to go to the shops because I'm not competing in some sort of race, I'm shopping.
23.02.2026 19:39 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, it's safe. It's not cycling that's dangerous, it's the cars that are dangerous.
23.02.2026 18:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0He thinks the forces he's trying to unleash will stop before they reach him. They won't.
23.02.2026 07:52 β π 31 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Just for the reply guys, yes, we do know our healthcare is paid for through taxes and thus isn't literally free. But thanks for pointing it out yet again.
