Momocon pretty much confirmed to me that despite how vitriolic the internet has been lately, the weird ass racist edgelords you encounter online only exist in those spaces and the general “anime” fandom isn’t filled with these freaks. Or they’re not brave enough to express themselves in public.

It doesn't get rid of the anger/upset but it does help to know a lot of the time people being mean aren't even hearing/watching what I said, and just looking for an outlet to be hateful. It makes it less personal and easier to bounce back from. Good luck!
