The budget bill that Republicans just rushed through Congress is going to harm Nevadans. Over 100,000 Nevadans are at risk of losing their health care so billionaires can get a giant tax cut. Rural hospitals are at risk of closure so billionaires can get a giant tax cut. Nevadans with insurance will see their premiums rise so billionaires can get a giant tax cut. As Nevada’s chief investment officer, I can say without a doubt that tax cuts for billionaires are a terrible use of our money.

160 years ago today, enslaved Black people in Texas learned they were free — 2.5 years after Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and recommitment to justice for all.
This Juneteenth is also special for Nevada: it is the first since Nevadans voted to remove slavery from our Constitution last year.
