What Happens When You Stop Doomscrolling A note on mental health.

For a lot of us, doomscrolling was never about a compulsive need to consume bad news. It was a search for deeper meanings and connections. We found them, and that led to healthier habits.

As someone who already got pushed out of a platform for expressing distasteful views, I can tell you it's not easy to set up somewhere else. Colbert will be fine. The rest of us? It makes the fight all that much harder.

A lot of people are going to miss the point of CBS canceling Colbert. Yes, he can now launch his own show on a range of different platforms. The message for the rest of us content creators who don't have millions of fans and millions of dollars is that we're at risk of getting booted for our views.

When they say the mortality rate is low, it's because they don't want you to think about what happens to people who survive measles but don't fully recover. And of course, they hope their audience doesn't understand enough math to know that 1 percent is still a helluva lot of people.

A feud implies equal power relationships. This is a president threatening to take away citizenship from someone.

I correctly guessed they would use the minimizing word "feud." Do I win a prize?

Take away $900 million from a billionaire, they're no longer a billionaire, and also still incredibly wealthy.

Here's our real population problem: Too many billionaires. Too many trust fund kids. Reduce that population.

What I can't stand about articles like this: They eventually get to some of the points that matter, all the way down at the end of the article, but the beginning of the article presents the worst explanations first, with zero critique.

Taking care of the elderly and the disabled has nothing to do with the size of your young population. It has everything to do with the priorities set by our politicians and their donors.

We could take care of the aging population by funding Medicare and Medicaid, and training more nurses, and making that a more attractive profession. *Checks notes.* Whoops, guess we flunked that test, too.
