We’re watching the great moral cleansing. It’s going to include a lot of big newspapers, a lot of big celebrities, and eventually a lot of big politicians. They’re going to see who can declare their morality the loudest at just the right moment.

COVID and Flu May Trigger Metastatic Cancer Recurrence A study in mice found that SARS-CoV-2 and influenza infection reawakened dormant metastatic breast cancer cells in the lungs.

β€œIndividuals w/ a history of cancer may benefit frm taking precautions against respiratory viruses…& discussing any concerns with their healthcare providers”

Anyone can get cancer. A concern I share with my healthcare providers is that they wear N95s so they don’t give me COVID. #MasksInHealthcare

We Forgot How to Sleep It's not just our phones.

A hundred articles will tell you to stop looking at your phone, but I've found a few other reasons why we're struggling with sleep.

Someone summed it up well the other day: This approach says many of us should continually have to debate and advocate for our basic human rights, our right to exist, our right to breathe clean air, our right not to be attacked for being different, and that the debate is never over.

What Happens When You Stop Doomscrolling A note on mental health.

For a lot of us, doomscrolling was never about a compulsive need to consume bad news. It was a search for deeper meanings and connections. We found them, and that led to healthier habits.

As someone who already got pushed out of a platform for expressing distasteful views, I can tell you it's not easy to set up somewhere else. Colbert will be fine. The rest of us? It makes the fight all that much harder.

A lot of people are going to miss the point of CBS canceling Colbert. Yes, he can now launch his own show on a range of different platforms. The message for the rest of us content creators who don't have millions of fans and millions of dollars is that we're at risk of getting booted for our views.

When they say the mortality rate is low, it's because they don't want you to think about what happens to people who survive measles but don't fully recover. And of course, they hope their audience doesn't understand enough math to know that 1 percent is still a helluva lot of people.

A feud implies equal power relationships. This is a president threatening to take away citizenship from someone.

There's Always a Beginning How and when fascist collapse starts.

Today, we logged on to see our president openly threatening to revoke a woman’s citizenship for criticizing him. This might be where a dystopian novel starts, but it was a long road here.

Take away $900 million from a billionaire, they're no longer a billionaire, and also still incredibly wealthy.

What I can't stand about articles like this: They eventually get to some of the points that matter, all the way down at the end of the article, but the beginning of the article presents the worst explanations first, with zero critique.

Taking care of the elderly and the disabled has nothing to do with the size of your young population. It has everything to do with the priorities set by our politicians and their donors.

We could take care of the aging population by funding Medicare and Medicaid, and training more nurses, and making that a more attractive profession. *Checks notes.* Whoops, guess we flunked that test, too.
