Last night we came together to commemorate 30years since the Srebrenica genocide. We thank those who shared their reflections with us.

Forensics I listen to the evidence of the forensic technicians who analysed the remains of those 8,000 killed by Serb forces and UN Protection failure in the Srebrenica Genocide 30 years ago. I read the court transcript. "A single gunshot wound to the head" "Mass starvation" "Mass graves" "Concealment." Denial. The parallel is palpable Lit in the candles Remembering. Hovering like a drone in the Forlorn, shredded words: "Never again". The scale of exhumation of bulldozed concealment and Flat out denial in Gaza lies before us A monumental task.

I'm reading over some of court materials from the Srebrenica Genocide and tribunals at present in preparation for our event tomorrow.

And in doing so I am in awe, once again, of our affiliate artist and forensic scientist Robert McNeil and the work of @rssba.bsky.social in facing the atrocities.

Elvira Mujkanovic lived in Trnopolje when the Bosnian Serb Army turned her entire village into an interrogation camp.
Elvira’s story inspired Robert McNeil, our Chair, to paint this picture. Elvira's now-husband was incarcerated in the infamous Omarska camp (shown in the background of the painting).

On May 31, 1992, all non-Serbs in the Prijedor area of Bosnia were instructed to wear white armbands and hang white sheets from their homes. Thousands of Muslims and Croats were forcibly arrested and taken to concentration camps where many suffered starvation, torture and death.
