Literally the party just needs to spend more time demonizing Trump than its own left flank.

Every act and message by moderates is heard clearly by the folks left of them. Moderates would have no trouble holding their left flank if they ever visibly carried water for it the rest of the time.

Instead, the pour out of the woodwork like scolding termites every X years.

Instead of spending Dem messaging to go out and say that angry liberals are unhinged loons, moderate Dems should constant be saying “this is the evidence of a pure moral outrage that must be addressed”

As a deeply pragmatic moderate, you should go talk to Republicans and say “look at what the party actually wants. Your people should take my deal and be happy with it”

Just like the GOP does to rope-a-dope the Dems continuously for decades.

More funds for DHS but with some strings attached is slower regression not progress. I am happy to chill on Dem leadership when maybe they at least whip the votes to not let their right flank cave on every major vote.

if I were to shrug and say “its true Dems can’t currently do better” that doesn’t mean we need to celebrate that as good news, good enough, or wisdom. It’s a long running failure of communication and leadership that “it’s pragmatic and all we could do” is the moral core of Dem leadership.

If we can agree that in a saner world the real policy discussion should be somewhere more between your and mine, then spending your energy policing liberal discussions has the opposite effect of that.

Maybe you can spare some energy to go hassle some conservatives about how you’re the eminently reasonable one they should be overjoyed to compromise with so that the real liberals don’t win instead of shouting left so it is easier for Dems to tack further right.
