I will be releasing a new album of material in a few weeks. It’s based on hours of field recordings taken around Indiana and repurposed into instrumental music. Looking forward to sharing it with everyone.

A bit of personal news to share now that it's official. I am taking over as the Editor for the Music-Business-Industry (MBI) section for College Music Society's Symposium Journal. I've long supported CMS's vision and look forward to building a body of engaged scholarship in the coming years.

Great week of music coding. We had 30 kids this summer across two different sessions. Grateful to my team for their hard work. Lots of fun supporting STEAM creativity.

Onboarding really should require a module on how to use the reply all feature responsibly.

Higher education is currently in a state of flux and our institution is no different. It's hard to predict where things will be in the coming years but I will do my part to make this corner of the world a better place. Thank you again.

I'm grateful to share that the IU Board of Trustees voted to approve my application for tenure and promotion to Associate Professor of Music Technology. It's been a long road and I'm deeply appreciative for the support I've received from colleagues, family, students, and reviewers.

The Music Technology Academy is back for a fourth year beginning next Monday. We'll be hosting 17 (!) kiddos in grades K-5 on our campus. They'll learn about music technology, basic coding, and creativity for a week. We'll host a second group in July. It's always fun if not a little hectic.

Under Trump, National Science Foundation Cuts Off All Funding to Scientists National Science Foundation staff were told to freeze outgoing funding days after NSF leadership introduced a new policy that requires that grants be screened for β€œalignment with agency priorities”

Since October, my research team and I have been offering an after school music coding program at a local community center once per week. It has been a rewarding experience. We'll wrap up that program next week and tomorrow a couple of our students are sharing at the local IUI student symposium.

I’m appalled by what’s happening to the NSF and NIH. The realignment and cancellation of funding directly impacts the work I do alongside countless others. Working as co-PI on an NSF AISL grant remains one of my favorite projects. I’ve been trying to get another one for the past few years. Gutted.

I recently purchased a new to me used car. I enjoy driving it but it's become clear that there were lots of maintenance issues that were overlooked. The upside is that I've been able to do a lot of writing and grading while waiting for various repairs. Not cheap, but I guess there's an upside.
