I used to work in search and rescue, and a lot of mountain man romances make me roll my eyes for that reason! Weirdly enough, I also write mountain man romance ... 🀣

Even a numerical system isn't perfect. I write closed door, fade to black contemporary romance that my editor and I agree is a 2/5 spice level. Yet one of my latest reviews said it was level 5 spice! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

In the center is an illustrated book cover with a man in an orange hoodie with dark hair showing a book to a young woman in a long sleeve orange and white tshirt and blue jeans. The book is titled Searching for a Valentine and around the edges it lists the tropes in the hook which are he falls first, cinnamon roll, PTSD and anxiety rep, small town, indie bookseller, found family, keeping secrets and fade to black romance.
