Alice will also have an affiliation @manchester.ac.uk within @fbmh-uom.bsky.social, as the new techniques Alice brings to Manchester open up many avenues for cross-disciplinary work, and for advancing the techniques available in the University of Manchester’s Electron Microscopy Core Facility

Her research will combine cutting-edge light & electron microscopy, genome editing & genomics in embryonic and #cancer models to address fundamental questions in #chromatin biology & her interest in how #TumourMicroenvironment signals impact chromatin regulation open up collaborative opportunities

Alice further developed dual-tilt chromatin electron tomography (2T-ChromEMT), allowing multiscale visualisation of chromatin architecture - used to identify cell type-specific chromatin signatures that she has begun to mechanistically link to epigenetic and mechanical pathways

Alice is joining us from her postdoc at Yale U with Antonio Giraldez where she developed novel #cryoEM and #nanogold labelling techniques to study chromatin structure in cells at the scale of individual #histone proteins, building on her PhD at @bristoluni.bsky.social
