The website routinely amplifies toxic maga disinformation sites. So a label is placed on any post linking to that website
The fact that sometimes they post factual content does not make it a reliable source. Mixing lies with fact ('60/40') is a way to bait credulous readers to align with the lies.

Yes it's easily done. People sometimes block when moderation mistakes are made, which is understandable.

Bluesky's layered moderation is poorly understood.
E.g. a labeler's labels can be set individually to "Off", and then that label won't affect your view at all.
It's also different from blocking in that labels can apply to post, profile or account. Almost all my automated labels are post-level.

I labeled a bunch of "death to 🇮🇱" accounts yesterday, and set up a rule that will capture all "death to" content for review going forward.
I'll report back on the pattern in a few weeks once I have a representative sample. Based on review so far, "death to 🇮🇱" and "death to 🇺🇸" are the leaders.

fixed, I try to check appeals and this account's Mentions daily but sometimes life gets in the way

thanks for the heads up - adding handling unblock and removal of stuff from account profile is a needed fix

You see a given label *if and only if*
a) you subscribe to the labeler &
b) label in question is configured to anything but 'Ignore'.

in the end state the account labeling will probably be less black-and-white. Honestly, I prefer to follow their good reporters' individual accounts anyway, given the stance of the paper's owner.

I've replaced the old, incorrect account-level labels with a single "disinfo-link" label on one post to orbitjunction dot com, which is viewed as a bad source of information.

For example the recent piece by a russian who did an approved ride-along with Akhmat in occupied Ukraine, to show how Ukraine is a brother nation and the war must end asap 🤷‍♂️

yes. i just replied to Frode about this, It's not correct as is but will take a while to rethink & update due to summer schedule & single-person constraint. For now the label stands, due to persistent sane-washing of MAGA & enough weirdly pro-fascist takes to merit it

PS "MAG*t" is a dehumanizing slur, so that label stands. Just because may people say it, does not make it OK.

Is Al Jazeera really the same as the NYT? Obvs no.
AJ is hostile Gulf State disinfo, while NYT (+ WaPo, LA T) has a billionaire owner who directs compliance in advance, with varying degrees of opposition from a massive staff. Sane-washing MAGA? That's disinfo.
But will revisit this in coming weeks.

yeah I've been thinking about how to distinguish account and post-level labels, and these "trusted account™️" cases, while writing the FAQ. The current scheme is confusing, and sometimes overkill.
[Personally I prefer to follow individual reporters, tbh.]

Yeah, I revised the labeling for this a few days ago after hearing the same thing from someone else. I'll fix this tonight for you.

If you report accounts instead of posts, a comment with context is essential. That's all, really.

if you don't care about people blocking the moderator just ignore that label

Only subscribers see our labels. Additionally, how each label for a labeling service is handled is up to the subscriber (Hide/Warn/Ignore)

It's subjective. You are correct, nobody can affirm that.

I agree this is controversial. I'll change the rule to not auto-label, so we can continue to catch people using the slur by manual review of usage in context.
