An illuminating Report from inside the war zone

Today in #Portland I went to the Farmer's Market and bought a box full of vegetables, had a picnic lunch with my partner at Mt Tabor park, bought a fresh loaf of bread at the bakery, and rented blu-rays from Movie Madness. It's a beautiful day and folks are just enjoying the sunshine.

Of all the Game Changer bits that came out for this challenge, this one is by far my favorite. And yes, it's because Team 2 has BDG and Tao giving my gay ass everything I ever wanted.

I said it on FB and I'll say it here. Brian David Gilbert and Tao Yang are giving me everything I need in this video. :D

I'm doing this as a quilt as you go project, so most of it is done on the individual hex level. The end work I'm doing now is just stitching it all together. So going row by row I can fit it into my machine with minimal folding of a single row.

So, I based this design off a similar and smaller hex kit from Daisy and Grace. That one uses 5 inch squares, which would be perfect for a Catan quilt. (Trust me I've thought about it A LOT)

Thank you! Having them bigger made the king size easier, but also got me a nice big space to do embellishments.

Each hex measures 9.25 in side to side and 10.5 point to point. There are 13.5 hexes per row and 14 nested rows. There will also be a 3 in border on top and bottom. So in total 125 inches wide and something like 118 inches long (3.2 meters x 3 meters)-ish.

It's amazingly not that heavy. I think the batting was the heaviest part, and that's a Warm & White King. I think it'll finish at something like 4 lbs total.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Sounded incredible to me so I picked up the PDF on DriveThru immediately after watching this. I'm so used to Pathfinder that the lack of rules is kind of terrifying, but a challenge I'm willing to take!

This Saturday was the end of our 3-year long Kingmaker campaign. Though a bit rushed due to personal circumstances we still made it to the very end. While our Kingdom didn't span the full length of the map, it did get substantial. This is the Magocracy of Bredenham, the land of second chances.

OMG! I left that movie in shock and silence for like an hour. It was a trauma! Later that night I went to my neighborhood gay bar to connect with people and talk about what I was feeling. Stunning to read that a reviewer didn't have their emotions "engaged." What a robot!

The first time I saw NOTLD I was probably 10 years old, and it was New Year's Eve at my grandparents house. After midnight everyone else was asleep but me and so I watched it on tv, alone, in the dead of night and it scared the bejeezus out of me. Kind of became a NYE staple for me for many years.

I liked that movie well enough, but when I saw it in the theater the audio stingers were DEAFENING. My friend literally winced and flinched every time that sound went off, and it goes off way too often.
