Right now, for a lot of Canadians the temptation is to ignore Indigenous people because the threats from the US seem way more important. This turn to fervent and ignorant nationalism is a mistake. Don't alienate the people who know more about your "country" than you do. Find common cause instead.

Don’t lose hope. Remember, Watergate took over two years to fully unravel from the initial break-in to Nixon’s resignation. Just like then and now, Americans are losing faith in their government. We are documenting every illegal action and will hold this administration and Elon Musk accountable.

Washington, D.C. yesterday. "Shut down the Senate, Shut down the Senate." Chanted for hours.
More massive #USprotests, ongoing. Sources here report, "Millions of people are getting ready as we speak to take this country back and save the USA. Their days are numbered. Stay tuned." #3E

A shadow war on libraries
Some Canadian politicians and influencers, inspired by an American-born movement, are trying to roll back 2SLGBTQ+ rights in Canada — one book at a time.
The Fifth Estate is reporting on how anti-2SLGBTQ+ sentiment is affecting Canadian libraries and - something I'm so glad they looked into - how it's connected to attacks on libraries in the United States. www.cbc.ca/newsinteract...

Hi, my name is [NAME], I'm a constituent in [ZIP CODE]. I'm calling because I saw that [TERRIBLE THING] is happening. I think this is appalling. [PERSONAL STORY, if you have one.] I want you to do everything you can to stop this. I will remember your actions when I cast my next vote. Thank you.
Here is a script you can use for any issue. Find your reps' # at reps.fyi or 5calls.org. Every time you see a news story that horrifies you: call, or something else about it. It matters to say what you believe. You are setting a norm.

This language describes a coup. You have to be a government employee, subject to the rules & procedures that bind gov employees, to do this kind of work. This is a blatant abuse of the public trust by the Trump administration, a true 5-alarm fire. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

It's thanks to her, and those she worked with in her groups, that much headway was made for LGBTQ+ rights and awareness.
If you are also a member of the queer community, you should read up on her, because there is a lot we have to thank her for.

Marsha was a prominent advocate for LGBTQ+ youth, those affected by HIV and Aids, as well as a fighter for gay and trans rights.
She continued to advocate up until her death in 1992, which had been ruled a suicide but occurred during a time when trans violence was at an all time high.
