Sanderling at golden hour, standing amidst surf bubbles, facing right. The bird is standing as tall and proud as I’ve ever seen a sanderling stand (nice tongue twister huh). Her head is high and her legs are stretched. She is in winter plumage: white below, white neck, white nape, with wings and crown flecked in black. She has a faint broad smudgy eye line and black legs. The sand is steel blue in the sunset and the surf bubbles are white with a brown-yellow tint.
