The more limited the palette, the more discretion you have to use. And that's the fun of it!

I still have another project I need to prioritize, but once I've worked more on that, I think I'm going to experiment a bit more with spriting. I used to do a lot of gen 3 style Pokemon spriting back in the day, but it was fun working within GBC palette limitations when I made my mega Dragonite!

I'll be playing at a more relaxed pace still (I'm finding myself on a gen 2 Pokemon kick after making my mega Dragonite sprite! Pokemon Crystal rando bingo is fun, and I've been enjoying the Super Gold 97 Reforged hack!), but I'm finding myself more motivated to log in again nonetheless. :)

My first order of business will likely be to make the new flower crown and see if I like it on Ciel. If I don't vibe with it, I'll stick with the brightlily corsage!

As it turns out, a months-long hiatus from FFXIV (broken up by the occasional small session here and there to keep my house) was exactly what I needed to feel refreshed and have fun again! My heart just wasn't in it for most of the last patch.

I was afraid to adjust the time, since I was worried that would trigger a weather change, so the boss fight took long enough to cross over into day and resume the usual weather for the final cutscene, but the earlier cutscenes also had falling stars.

This is so cool!! I knew you could get the weather to bug out in Xenoblade X on the Wii U and explore Sylvalum in clear weather (and that happened to me once on one of my files), but I never expected Xenoblade 1 to have a similar glitch!!

Sometimes you do need a treat for the sake of morale! As long as you're not going overboard, there's nothing wrong with getting a little something nice for the soul. :D

Only one thing for it, and that's to draw him even more! Study him, capture his essence better (and who's to say a less conventionally pretty Mumkhar can't be sexy? >:D)! Draw him as pretty or as gnarly as you want, as long as it feels like it's him!

It's behavior like that that makes me shy away from interacting with the wider queer community (or even talk about my queerness much - yes, I feel like the alienation that comes with being aro and/or ace is inherently queer).

A lack of attraction does not equal a desire for censorship!!!

(Of course, the above recommendation would be meaningless if I didn't throw in a link! I'll reiterate the violence and body horror warnings though. Won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it's not afraid to stay true to its vision.)

If anyone wants my unsolicited recommendation for something a little traumatic that made a huge impact on me in the mid-2000s, you should go read Secretary right now. It gets pretty violent, and there's some messed up rodent body horror in there, but you might glean something meaningful from it.

Art like that can help you process and cope with things going on in your life, and broaden the mind's horizon. It's catharsis, even moreso if you're the one creating it. Some of my favorite art has been that which makes me stop and think!

It's probably surprising coming from someone whose art style tends towards the cuter and fluffier end of the spectrum, but I think stories and art that are a little traumatic and messed up can be pretty important to engage with.

I'll add that while there's nothing wrong with comfort art, there's absolutely something wrong if you're willing to engage ONLY with comfort art. You should be running into art that perplexes you or gets under your skin or makes you ask questions or that you dislike without calling for its removal.
