I think it would be fun to revive my OC world in general; it's existed for more than 20 years by this point and I'd like to do it justice!

I made something along the lines of that back when Freewebs was a thing, but I never got very far with it! All the assets were lost when my old WinXP machine died, though, and like hell am I going to dig up my old Photobucket to see if the images still exist there.

What would I do with my own little space on the indie web, even? My thought is to make a self-indulgent personal space for my OCs and my original world, where I can post little doodles and maybe little stories about them along the way.

I'm putting my money where my mouth is on yearning for the old web and gradually reteaching myself the basics of HTML and CSS so that when I do make a Neocities page, I'll be able to make my own pages with ease!

Lately I've been toying around with the idea of carving out a space for myself on the indie web and making a Neocities page, though I'll have to dust off my HTML knowledge I haven't used in two decades to do so! The internet moves so fast these days, and I just want to take it slow.

I feel this in my soul! I find myself overwhelmed with social media more often than not (and I've been overwhelmed here even just viewing the OnlyPosts feed!), and Discords aren't much better since everything gets drowned out so easily in creative channels there. We yearn for the gallery sites!

I truly hate that the default way to share a creative work is to toss it on a site like this instead of a place where people can go and see your body of work presented with less emphasis on temporal context

i dont think one thing should replace discord, i think like three things at minimum should replace discord. it being an All-in-One app has ruined so many parts of online.

worth noting that even if you refuse the age verification process, you won’t be locked out of talking to your friends on discord even if you can’t access certain servers. add folks now if you want to keep in touch and coordinate moving to a different platform

Definitely!! It's already got like 95% of what I use Discord for, so if it comes to a migration at least the migration won't be suuuper painful. It's not like it's my first rodeo with a chat service migration either, and at least I'm prepared to jump ship if need be!

I mentioned it in one of my servers and have put my Stoat username in my Discord profile! Really the only thing Stoat is missing that I care about is screensharing and maybe polls; otherwise it seems like it could be pretty solid.

If anyone is looking to alternatives to poke around to get some control in their lives, I've been on Stoat since April 2024 and it's been pretty alright. It's kinda in an awkward spot from having to suddenly rebrand from Revolt but I'm glad it's still around!

Both excellent choices!! (I actually need to play through the latter as I have all 3 games on DS but never got around to them, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it!)

(Applying the same mindset I have from playing Hollow Knight and Rain World to doing things in FFXIV has probably been a great boon to me, for I am nothing if not full of patience towards myself and others. Dying is just prog! :D)

Moral of this story is: you don't have to be good at video games, you just have to bring patience, determination, a willingness to learn, a good attitude, and a cat who will demand affection at inopportune moments! He got plenty of kisses, naturally.

After getting sidetracked by deep dungeon shenanigans for several months, I went back and helped that sprout who'd been unsync progging P12S with me their clear, and their axolotl at long last! Hubert helped too, as he inflicted cat debuff on me and messaged party chat during the clear pull too. :D
