my fav thing abt after war gundam x is all the love put into the ensemble cast liiiiiiike im already so attached to all of the freeden crew these guys are everything

very very fond of him so far. i love those moments when it becomes obvious he's a huge softie

he's got the ptsd ridden former newtype child solider burnout of amuro ray and the quattro bajeena-like demeanor of a stoic yet passionate and emotionally vulnerable mentor figure

for a while ive gotten the impression that jamil neate is kinda like amuro and quattro fused into one guy but i still was not prepared for just how much he really is amuro and quattro fused into one guy

i might be calling it too early but i feel like this could have the potential to become one of my favorites or at least pretty high up 🧐 we’ll see

im officially on after war gundam x now and ermmmmmmm....... guys i think we might have a banger on our handsssssssssssss

i also got the impression that she didn't actually like cronicle all that much. or maybe she *thinks* she likes him but doesn't really, it's more like she likes having his attention and the feeling of being relied on. she has a deep inferiority complex

im not sure how intentional it was but i got this impression that cronicle is something of a red herring. he has some charlike qualities that make it seem like he's going to be a big rival for uso, but he's more like setup for katejina?

katejina loos is a really fascinating character to me and dare i say one of the best parts of victory gundam

MAN in general i just adore this moment and the admission that he doesn't truly hate his name despite the insecurity. its such a big moment of growth and vulnerably for his character. zeta is so fucking good

its just a hc but i think viewing them and their relationship through a t4t lens works so fucking well with their narrative. especially when i think abt scenes like this

A loooooooot of characters get killed off but most of them really lack emotional weight. They happen too fast and too frequently to feel connected to the characters. I'd say it isn't until around halfway through after *SPOILERS* Uso's mom dies that deaths start feeling more impactful. Seriously the rapid pace that the Shrike Team gets killed off gets to a point where its kind of comical. By the time the third oneesan dies its like ok..... cmon now. One of the best episodes was that one where Uso meets the family of an enemy soldier he killed in the previous episode and really struggles with the reality of it. It was really well done and a moment where the death of a minor character actually felt heavy Katejina is one of the best things in this show and dare I even say one of the best and most memorable "rival characters" in Gundam One of Victory's strongest qualities is its action. Mobile suit fights were consistently engaging and exciting to watch, and it was rare that I felt bored. Considering how much production troubles this show had I think it's genuinely impressive I was cool with all of the themes about maternal love etc. but there were times where it did get kind of weird and heavy handed especially with the whole miracle of pregnancy thing. There are times where you can only go haha okayyyyy Tomino..... *sideeye* The Angel Halo is easily the most fucked up and insane thing in the UC and I really fucking loved it. It made for a very hype final battle and honestly some of those last couple episodes might genuinely be some of the strongest episodes in the UC

and yeah it pretty much met my expectations. victory isn't a masterpiece nor would i say its essential gundam watching. but i would still gladly go up to bat for it

i got a lot more thoughts that would take a lot of posts so i chose mercy and wrote them down in notes lol
