I stopped by this week and topped up the playmaps! Heads up: if you are hoping to grab one before the holidays, what's on the shelves is now 95% of my remaining stock.

I’m glad to see comic creators talking more openly about what they’re being paid from publishers, especially with the creator resource and coop surveys in the last few years.

What I’d love to see next is a reckoning for publishers who do nothing to promote a book’s release.

I used my hero academia characters for one example in the workshop, and during the exercises one girl asked:

Her: so you watch MHA?
Me: yeah
Her: do you ship Deku and Bakugo?
Me: I gotta go

The year is 2014. You're trying to draw an action comic for the first time, tearing through superhero books to try and draw a passable muscular torso, and this is genuinely the best you can do. Sweating, stressed.

The year is 2025, and you casually draw a torso from an angle you really like.

But yeah, I need a little time for creative input again. Catch up on my TBR pile, do some life drawing, have a little fun with art again.

That being said, I'd also love time for some online housekeeping. Finish Patreon commissions, update character page on iron barge, and /finally finish the godslave site update/

Once book 2 colors for IRON BARGE are wrapped, I need to take a creative break to recharge. I definitely get some 'if the shark stops swimming, it dies' anxiety by not immediately filling any free time with another project. But a girl has got to rest.

Alright, okay, little preview announcement: I am setting up shop in the Danforth Arts Market this winter!

I can't believe how excited I am to have a local storefront location! Still lots more art and books to come, but if you've been looking to grab a playmap, Toronto friends, you are IN LUCK!

1. Artists used to be able to supplement their page rate a bit by selling the original art. Now that many are working digitally, that's not an option.
2. I think the average advance from a book publisher for a graphic novel is probably even worse than the page rate that monthly comics publishers pay

I was surprised at some points where it is just… unrelentingly sad. Especially with Devries and her friend Savannah.

Finally finished outer worlds 2 ;___; the ending is SO much better than the first game! I think could have done better by Niles and possibly Inez in their arcs, but that’s for another play through
