Results of an Iranian Shahed drone strike on the oil tanker 'Skylight'.
First tanker hit of the war, unlikely to be the last. Aside from the human cost, there will likely be a massive environmental cost to the conflict as well.
"Birds in the United States are not only declining, but they are declining faster, especially in areas with intensive agriculture...Overall drops in bird population, measured from 1987 to 2021, were sharpest in warm and warming areas, suggesting that climate change may play a role."

This is an illegal war of aggression.
Dozens of Iranian children have been massacred by the US and Israel on its first day.
If the cheerleaders of this crime succeed, our world will descend into bloody chaos.
"To put it bluntly, the most powerful people in the world are preparing for the end of the world, an end they themselves are frenetically accelerating."

OCASIO-CORTEZ STATEMENT ON TRUMP'S COMBAT OPERATIONS IN IRAN "The American people are once again dragged into a war they did not want by a president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions. This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic. "Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war. The President walked away from these discussions and chose war instead.President Trump flippantly acknowledged the possibility of American casualties, stating "that often happens in war.' "Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people. "Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different. "In moments of war, our Constitution is unambiguous: Congress authorizes war. The President does not. I will do my part to uphold our Constitution by voting YES on Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie's War Powers Resolution. Every member of Congress must join us in rejecting this aimless war.

I think William E. Connolly is so important he deserves an obit in the New York Times. He passed away overnight at 87 and I am thinking of Jane, his family, friends, students and colleagues who have such wonderful memories of his teaching and friendship.
Rigour and bravery in his words.
Thank you Professor. I guess this also speaks to the silence of affinity - or has it been significantly coerced? - over another matter.

Even if global warming was not such a pressing issue, renewables are not only more affordable and less price-volatile than single-use fossile fuels, they also increase a countryβs resilience in armed conflict.

One is that you can't move this many people without inflicting tremendous physical and psychological harm on those deported and on society itself. The second is that left in place for years, mass detention on a whole new level will be normalized. It rarely vanishes. [1/3]

great reporting by @australia.theguardian.com Melissa Davey but subheads, help citizens find accountability. Not until way down the story can we which gov agency is responsible, who the minister is.
Q: is there an agenda to funnel money to private nursing homes?
Why is Australia a failing state?
We let the right take over the bureaucracy and now theyβre running our nation into the ground.
The clue is: are there vulnerable citizens at risk? Screw βem. Is there a consultancy or fake βAIβ firm lining up with the carpetbaggers to steal our taxes? Pay βem.
