While I had the shift linkage out, decided to replace the rest of the bushings and swapped my shift rod for a Kartboy short throw. The difference feels significant. Unfortunately the 1997 JDM rear shift bushing has a totally different geometry than any other suby it seems. Could not get it to fit.

The shifter was noticably lose and sloppy. Typically this means swapping the old linkage when the bushings deteriorate. This car was no exception.

Next up was a fluid and filter change. Wix for the win. I actually prefer paper filters, they seem to breathe better than their expensive alternates.

The first step was picking up some Wet Okole full neoprene waterproof seat covers that I ordered while waiting for the Subi to ship. A must have for makai days. Install was smooth. Love that new wetsuit smell.
