Martin Short’s adopted daughter died by suicide. I don’t know how familiar people are with the prevalence of suicide and suicidality among #adoptees. One frequently cited study concluded that adopted people are four times as likely to attempt suicide as non-adoptees.

liberals profess shock at the phrase “domestic infant supply” because to take it literally is to accept that the USA operates a market in children. Plenary #adoption was codified a century ago, with a cascading series of legal changes in every state over a 20-year period, to legitimize that market.

the relation of parent to child is one of stewardship, not ownership. but #adoption is designed to confer legal parenthood through the issuing of false birth records, which give the adopters permanent ownership of the adoptee's identity. why can't adult adoptees legally emancipate themselves?

pregnant persons who may envision themselves incapable/unable to raise their child for myriad reasons are sometimes offered an "open adoption" as an inducement to "put up their baby up for adoption" -- there is no remedy for breaching an open adoption agreement

I've known many women who relinquished a child. It was not what they wanted to do. Keeping her child usually meant/means poverty, social stigma for her and her child, and complete lack of support. Does that sound like a real choice?

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!
