Warning of delays as Cambridgeshire Busway speed limit is cut Journeys could take up to 45 minutes longer when lower speeds are introduced, a bus operator says.

Cambridge busways will see its top speed reduced from 56 mph to 30 mph or even 20 mph at intersections in response to a fine over 3 deadly accidents and pending complete fencing off of the right-of-way. This could increase travel times up to 45 minutes on some routes.

I have mixed feelings about dollar vans using bus lanes, but it is shocking that the MTA can’t compete them out of existence. NYC Transit buses get like $3 per ride in operating subsidy PLUS capital subsidy to buy buses, but can’t outcompete a service that must cover all costs out of a $2 fare?
