Richard Throssel - Wikipedia Richard Throssell (1882–1933) was a Cree photographer, who documented life on the Crow Reservation at the beginning of the 20th century.

In 1883 #OTD, Cree photographer Richard Throssel was born in Marengo, Washington Territory, USA. Starting in 1902, he created a catalog of more than 1,000 images of the Crow People and their lifestyles.

Eva Watson-Schütze - Wikipedia Eva Watson-Schütze (September 16, 1867 – 1935) was an American photographer who was one of the founding members of the Photo-Secession.

Famed Pictorialist photographer Eva Watson-Schütze was born #OTD in 1867. She studied art with Thomas Eakins, but she soon became a strong advocate for women photographers, writing, "I want [my work] judged by only one standard, irrespective of sex."

When The U.S. Government Tried To Replace Migrant Farmworkers With High Schoolers In 1964, a program that brought migrant Mexican laborers to the U.S. ended. So the U.S. recruited American students to pick crops instead. When they saw their living conditions, strikes ensued.

History has a lot to teach us when we pay attention.

I urge anyone who cares about democracy and our freedom to read this book as soon as possible. It’s small and brief, and it sums up everything that’s been going on in this country for many years. Snyder packs more into his 20 points/chapters than many books ten times this size.
