That makes sense actually! My trainer during pregnancy focused a lot on helping me feel how to relax the pelvic floor, since people who lift often have labor get slow because of pelvic floor tension.

29.12.2025 02:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was great! Still is, Bay Strength for any East Bay people reading this. During my time slot Iβd usually work out with at least two 70+ women (moms of trainers), a 30s guy deadlifting 500 pounds, someone recovering from surgery, and more.
28.12.2025 21:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Really enjoying your Heated Rivalry journey. Feels like every queer person I know of is watching it.
28.12.2025 21:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As a side note powerlifting is GREAT postpartum exercise because pregnancy/birth/nursing all loosen the joints, so adding muscle really helps with stability.
28.12.2025 21:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yup. My postpartum recovery gym was a powerlifting space run by women + queer trainers. Total game changer for me to do 6 months of training there. Now I program my own at the Y. I was super lucky to find it.
28.12.2025 21:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The masculinity and bulk things arenβt issues for me, but finding a queer/women friendly place to learn to lift was.
28.12.2025 20:09 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Agree with this. Women systematically benefit more from strength training IMO because our hormonal balance doesnβt prioritize muscle. (Men probably need the heart benefits of cardio more, same reason.) I heard so much about yoga and stretching. What actually fixed my running pain was powerlifting.
28.12.2025 20:08 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The sign says SUN VALLEY DAIRY, so the cow is likely related. Itβs an old SF dairy, no longer operating. This picture raises a lot of questions for me!
01.10.2025 14:01 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I miss certain things about being a professor, but prepping for intro to US politics in this environment is not one of them.
14.07.2025 19:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Teaching US politics and US law has gotten more and more fun.
14.07.2025 19:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is a thing on BART in the Bay Area. Harris hawks, not eagles, but still cool as hell.
16.06.2025 15:21 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I actually have quite a few thoughts on this but none of em are for BlueSky just yet.
25.05.2025 00:50 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I usually donβt look at professional survey questions and see an intro methods problem for undergrads, but this poll really seems to be giving its all that way.

21.05.2025 19:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My experience is that the best food (at any price range) Iβve eaten in both places is similar quality, but a randomly selected European restaurant will absolutely smoke a randomly selected US one.

I didnβt grow up with Man Skills but my adult experience is that, as with Woman Skills, you can do an adequate job at the simple ones just by looking things up and giving it a shot.
And then for complex ones (repairing cars, making clothes) very few people actually do it at home anyway.
Thanks! Any faves I should check out?
10.02.2025 03:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Listen, there's a lot going on, but I have a totally unrelated question that'd be fun on here. My kid LOVES watching stuff being made: time lapse videos of home construction (bonus for explanatory voice over), ceramics throwing, etc. Got anything to rec in that vein?
10.02.2025 01:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That seemsβ¦. not possible.
03.11.2024 03:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve seen a lot of numbers go by this year and this is the only one Iβve texted anyone about. If thereβs one number to find informative itβs probably the Iowa poll. So what the HELL.
03.11.2024 01:37 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Iowa is probably easier to poll than many places: more homogeneous, more landlines, more people who answer strange numbers.
But also: Selzer is the undisputed expert on polling the state. Rare to have a smallish homogeneous place with that kind of dedicated expertise.
Also this is going to be mostly an ebike account now I guess.
04.10.2023 01:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Biking in a car-brained city means you have to carefully check every maps route for places where thereβs technically a bike lane but thereβs no way itβs safe to use. Every new destination is a careful maps study or a text to someone who lives near it.
04.10.2023 01:28 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0People love to pretend politicians are their friends, one of many worst ways to make a vote choice.

Doing preschool pickup by car: βnoooooo Iβm not READY nooooo.β
Doing preschool pickup by ebike: βput my helmet on me itβs time to go.β
Fully converted to the cargo bike cult.
At that point many (most?) people could be using e bikes β better for the planet, roads, electric infrastructure, air quality, and health.

26.08.2023 21:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think itβs pretty revelatory that βeliteβ is (for some people) so separate from actual power and status that an adjunct prof is an βeliteβ while the ex POTUS isnβt. That is absolutely wild! The message it conveys is exceptionally different from the denotative meaning of the word.
26.08.2023 21:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Idk it seems like itβs got some momentum?
