When I was in the translation team for @nightlfy.bsky.social 's Dragon Quest +, I took it upon myself to draw some of the original items in the NES manuals watercolor style. They weren't meant to be used anywhere, but I'd love a chance to do more of that kind of stuff.

And yeah it's really neat. Can't belive it is in French and Chinese now. And yeah after the initial work with the font I imagine it was much easier to work with.

I don't know much about Chinese but it seems that you can say a lot with just a couple characters.

Getting some Landstalker Treasures of King Nole vibes too. Good stuff.

I always want to make sure to highlight such efforts as these continue to amaze me and remind me how far DQ+ has reached.

Even though Square Enix's remake is sure to surpass it, I am still very proud of it and thankful for the fans keeping it alive.

Unbeknownst to me until yesterday, DQ fan in China, AlphaDreams, finished a localization of DQ+ a couple of months ago. He told me that It was very well received in his community. 👏 He made improvements and even plans on adding new content.

I am impressed. Congrats on the Chinese localization!

On the top of the meme it has a child from the '90s and says "in the future everyone will live in the sky" (and it's a picture of The Jetsons or some shit) On the bottom, which is labeled the future Brian is saying "if I can save up $30,000 I can move into a shed" and then there's a picture of one of those sheds you can buy from home Depot or something

But I agree that it works best when using it the intended way. Un-rpgmakering DQ+ did cause burn out and a much longer development period than expected.

Though most of the systems were created in common events so in that sense it somewhat respects RPGM.

Wow man, this whole payment processing stuff is insane. Heart was in the right place at the start but it ended up totally destructive and harmful to creators.

Really hope this thing turns around.

I think adding speed definitely adds texture to battles and makes them less repetitive. It incentivises players to want to find ways to increase their speed and outspeed the enemy.

The extra work is worth it. Especially if your game has stat changing equipment or items.

Oh my god...I finally found it! I faintly remember watching this as a kid but I could never actually remember what it was until now, haha. I remember the strange tin man and that golden robot thing. It was so creepy to me.

Also some Sega All Stars Racing in there too. Wall jumping with karts is interesting, lol.
