Check out our new research on how the fossil energy, plastic & agrichemical industries are interconnected in their climate obstruction narratives and coordinated in efforts to deny & delay the transformative climate action needed for a stable & healthy future. journals.plos.org/climate/arti...

How’d he come up with that idea? And is it really on the table?
Funny you should ask. Read my story to find out!

30.12.2024 08:09 — 👍 15 🔁 10 💬 0 📌 0Joshua Siegel @SiegelScribe A coalition of oil and gas groups, representing over 80% of U.S. domestic production, sent a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson today calling on passage of permitting bill before end of current Congress. @IPAAaccess, @oceanindustries, @WesternEnergy1, @EnergyWorkforce on letter While we certainly support additional Congressional action on the issue in the 119th Congress, our coalition believes there is an opportunity in the coming weeks to pass the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, which will in turn expedite President Trump's ability to execute on his promise to unleash American energy early in his first term. The bill would help streamline the federal approval process for major energy projects, accelerate agency reviews of these projects, and fix longstanding gaps in the nation's leasing and judicial review processes While this bill is merely the first step towards comprehensive permitting reform in this country, we believe that passing the package now, at the end of the 118th, and then earnestly advancing additional National Environmental Policy Act reforms such as those being drafted by Chairman Westerman in the Natural Resources Committee, will ensure that America can get back on track as quickly as possible.
Can someone please explain to me why, if the Manchin-Barrasso permitting reform bill is supposed to lower demand for fossil fuels, oil and gas groups are pushing it?
Someone?
Anyone?
Wow! Really incredible new research from @timmonsroberts.bsky.social and colleagues revealing that anti-offshore wind groups are far more sophisticated (and dangerous) than one might imagine:

State, local and even university action on climate become more important than ever under Trump. Hoping to see more of this! Professors and students, get out there and push your universities.

Proud to see my first peer-review paper out now. We discuss how fossil fuel interests and climate denial veterans support local anti-wind groups!
