is it just me or are recent technical books from e.g. packt just horribly written? the content is whatever, the style, grammar, and usage just seem rather poor.

Visiting the Bay Area is bittersweet. I love the nostalgia of memories of my 20s but seeing downtown Mountain View dead during the day is a reminder that the past is gone and the future is a new opportunity.

With all of the unprecedented damage and uncertainty in LA right now, I see life going on. The fact that people can continue on our my lives reminds me that I’m lucky and I remain grateful for what I’ve got.

The outpouring of support from the different fire departments sending support crew down here to LA is amazing. Warms my heart, and I teared up a bit when SF FD posted a video of their trucks ringing their bells on the way down.

Tech twitter these days falls into two categories of people these days in my mind:

* people peddling the equivalent of the $25 Hayley Bieber skin smoothie, or
* Erewhon people gladly consuming their overpriced snake oil because it’s popular.

Anyway that’s just, like, my reductionist take.

Without going form over function like some of the obsidian blogs I see, I
recommend 1/ “unique note creator”, prefixing everything with a date if you want to Zettel, 2/ daily notes with “what to do today, what I did today, meetings” + Tasker to make a “what to do today” auto generated from dailys.

Zettels are for your own memory / retention. I feel like using them as repositories for others doesn’t work.

I enjoy using obsidian for my own note taking and for work. The zettelkasten method works well for me to organize my thoughts and notes!

However, I just read a “blog post” of a zettel and it actively hurt my brain. It felt all over the place with constant links and references to other articles
