My productivity has been low for a few weeks thanks to more bouts with insomnia. I sure hope a sequel to a video game I am extremely addicted to doesn't go into early access any time soon.

I could talk about how once a game throws about 10 boxes at me covering stuff I already know, I start unconsciously tuning them out and miss the only important piece of information like it's a trick question on a pop quiz. But really, it just goes back to good tutorials taking time and effort.

It takes time and money to make an in game tutorial that has some personality to it that fits in to the world. And even then, some stuff does require just telling the player directly what is going on. My favorite games of Trails have a few pop ups that I have to read.

If I have any complaints about "modern" tutorials, it's that many big companies understand the need for them but want to spend the least amount of money on them. This usually results in a pop up window that interrupts everything like I'm browsing the internet in the early 2000s with no adblocker.

The worst one of course being, The Pachinko machine in Super Mario Sunshine.

Had a nightmare where I was back in High School and somehow wasn't going to graduate. A nice change of pace from the one where I'm back in College and somehow missed a class all semester.

If the game gets too frustrating you can just start looking up build guides to bypass the deck building part.
