20.02.2026 12:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Since I'm sick of landfall abuse of the style maybe "Tap, Exile this land:"?
No GY synergy, no sac triggers, no crucible looping landfalls.
Just a basic plains at baseline, a "thriving" style choose your own ETB tapped dual when needed, and a fail to find at worst.
With the amount of tapped duals in precons the idea of commander only mono-color fetches seems like an angle (Fetch a Plains etc). Ideally figure out new more interesting downside than 1 life.
Would 10 more fetches be too much? Decks can already run as reasonably usable anyway, so I doubt it.
Thriving has basically no home outside of 2 color specific environments like CLB draft and Jump-starts.
Having to remember the color of choice is not an impossible hurdle, but its just another tiny hoop added into magics complexity without providing meaningful upside.
Please realize how good this mana rock is and just always play it.
Having mana up always will make you want to run more interaction, which is good!
The Demon Tides soundtrack is live now at 2mellomakes.bandcamp.com/album/demon-...!

Heres the supreme verdict comparison as well if you hadn't seen it.
The kinda nonsensical ketchup dispenser for pizza is so funny once you know its actually just mirroring the Ravnican spire.
Just enough that it doesn't immediately standout unless you really know the old art.
Wasn't super sold on it until I saw it next to the double masters art, which kinda flipped me into liking it. Doing in universe callbacks on the UB stuff is a neat trick.
Same with the Supreme Verdict.
Put some draw on your draw.

My fav so far was another machine gun style build. Hunter with upgraded chaos shot(2x shots), fully fill mana on kill, and couldn't damage teammates so I could just safely blast down big enemy waves
Yeah, there's always some splash of silliness, especially if we go back and look at basically any Phil Foglio art, but even in recent stuff its still around.
Definitely varies from person to person where the line is. Given how referential the rest of the TMNT set is, this seems so whatever though.
Yeah, I feel like the Turtles cards at least seem interesting.
Somewhat making me wish Spider-man was bigger, because I thought web-slinging could have had a lot of cool synergy with the Sneak/Ninjutstu stuff, but there is actually so little web-slinging that even got made. 10 cards, 6 w/ green.
A couple nights ago I had this ridiculous dream where Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith were going to do a Doctor Who special together but it got extremely controversial because people kept calling the upcoming episode 9/11

The accent might be the only thing with the power to tip the scale, due to Marissa Tomei in My Cousin Vinnie in my formative years.
Yeah having to remember it is rough, especially as you take longer tweaking over and over. I kept forgetting how dark/light it was.
18.02.2026 06:09 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I do hate this kind of naming though, which is one of my big gripes with UB especially as an avenue for reprints.
Just leave it as Sword of Sinew and Steel and let the art show its "Leo's Katana".
Creatures barely get a pass, but feels bad on equipment. If you can't get a flavor match, don't do it
For me its gotta be Albuquerque
18.02.2026 04:47 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0He does specifically talk about how they are finishing cycles that don't have a home in standard here and then specifically calls out the mirage fetches at the end.
Only recently got the increase in slots for finishing cycles in precons, so hopefully soon.

Not sure I follow, its just an fetch with the etb tapped clause. Its always one turn slower.
Still for .26c vs $26 they function quite well in the 3-4-5 color bases that want a lot of fetches, especially early when you usually don't need the t1 play.
It kinda falls into their logic behind no hybrid changes. Hybrid is obviously much bigger, but its a "Some people want unbanned, some people don't, some don't care" so we do nothing because there isn't a definite winner
I think this is kinda an outdated mentality that leads to nothing ever happens.
But that gets back into the angel tribe argument.
Nobody just jams winter orb into their random artifact deck. You are making a winter orb deck.
You do randomly jam Iona in an angel deck because its a big flashy angel.
They did mention being a creature is the other thing, its easier to cheat out via reanimation as opposed to the big sorceries.
But I think that's kinda a bunk argument. If someone is building degenerate decks around that one corner case strat, there is already so much nonsense they could do.
Just speculating on why she might be the exception to the unban policy they have seeming to be following. Though maybe the recent painters servant reprint hurt her odds by putting that combo fresh into peoples minds.
There is also the logic of "Why unban a card nobody is going to play anyway"
Tomer talked about it in his video talking about recent unbans about how the criteria should include both salt AND high play %.
And the one thing Iona probably has over the other cards is she is a likely candidate for a higher play % just cause of angels. Though this tracks to winnower/eldrazi too.
I think it has a perfectly justifiably banlist reason of bad play pattern vs power level. BUT the other cards they've unbanned were the same.
CV/Sway/Worldfire/Bio etc aren't good and your deck is weaker for including it. And when they do pop off, its fairly its a fairly uninteresting game end
Seeing a decent number of leftovers these days, so hoping the numbers are getting tuned and not just a "less desirable" lairs issue. Decent amount of PS ones hanging around and those seemed pretty hyped.
As long as they overprint, which I believe they can easily afford, the current system is okay*.
I do not believe anywhere near a significant amount of those followers are for that specific reason, its not like he became an alt-right grifter posting about it all the time.
09.02.2026 21:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Kind of agree, but "could have handled it better" and "chose to be a prick" is a HUGE difference.
Like, I expect someone who had his work stolen one of the few actual worldwide stages to be more outraged, justifiably.
And I don't think 50k (mostly) M:tG art nerds are going to do that much.
She and her team picked the music, they have SOME culpability in getting the rights.
And if they were relying on the Olympic committee or Ice skater association or whoever to do it, then his post which only calls out the Olympics and not the skater by name is fine
