"The party that leans upon the workers but serves the bourgeoisie, in the period of the greatest sharpening of the class struggle, cannot but sense the smells wafted from the waiting grave." Leon Trotsky

Well, getting mixed up with women if you're a Bishop is one thing, but getting involved with lawyers is quite another altogether.

As a party leader, if you ratify a candidate for any election, isn't one of the first things you ask them going to be "Is there anything we need to know about your business transactions that could cause a problem". Like renting an unregistered property and owing the tenant money? That sort of thing.

Was it because he owed someone €3,000?

"Catherine Connolly is now odds-on favourite simply because she has coherence and conviction. The rest of the campaign will be a grim attempt by the Government parties to knock her off her horse."

With a bit of help from the Irish Times of course.

Fascism. Call it a 'war zone' then send in the troops. American fascism is no worse than any other.

FF candidate with baggage cannot meaningfully deny allegation. Tayto crisps are nice.

Ah, an FF candidate with a bit o' baggage. Sound familiar.

That will probably be the case for many. However, Gavin has not addressed the issue and his recent response of "I'll look into it" was about the worst thing a candidate in an election could say to an allegation that they owed someone €3,000. If they truly didn't, they'd simply deny it and move on.

British people obviously never paid much attention to how the British state used fascist tactics to try to quell community conflict in Northern Ireland between 1969 and 1998. Did you all just grow up in a UK that was totally disconnected?

Remember, golden-haired Heather is the favourite within the walls of the Irish Times.

If you have to answer an allegation of owing someone €3,000 by saying "I'll look into it", there's a pretty good chance you do owe them the money and you know it.

Yes, let's have a wealth tax on property and other assets, but not one that includes the family home.

Jaysus but poor ould Catherine doesn't seem to be able to get anything right in the eyes of the Irish Times. Yet another attack on her following several from the IT in the past fortnight; but Olivia O'Leary adds another wonderful appraisal of Heather Humphreys in today's IT. Balance?

"She has plenty of experience and comes from a proud tradition. So why didn’t she say more about that in the first debate of the election campaign this week?"

She didn't because she knows a politician's religion is no longer important.

Connolly has now emerged as the frontrunner in this election so the Irish Times has upped its attacks on her. Scaremongering nonsense at best, pure panic-mode at worst.

03.10.2025 06:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

She is clearly the frontrunner at the moment and will stay well placed I'm sure no matter what. Your smugness about her being toast is very inappropriate. Wait and see.

Gosh...Jim is SO naughty. Not nearly as naughty as Catherine but much, much less naughty than Heather. But then Heather isn't really naughty at all so Jim is fucked basically.

Finn McRedmond doesn't live in Ireland so her opinions have no fucking relevance whatsoever to anyone here.
