Yesterday, when travelling from Rome to Freiburg, I changed trains at Milano Centrale. The monumental station opened in 1931 and intended to showcase the power of the Fascist regime. During the Holocaust, Italian Jews were deported from a secret platform, Binario 21.

The Trevi Fountain - a terrible tourist hot-spot, but this huge 18th century Baroque fountain (26 metres high and 49 metres wide, completed in 1762) is very beautiful and worth seeing!

Saturday was my last day in Rome, and I visited the breathtakingly beautiful Basilicata di Santa Maria Maggiore, whre Pope Francis is buried. To get rid of some of my sins, I passed through the holy gate.

An inscription on a cast iron pillar I photographed in Milan Central Station using both the Roman and the Fascist calendars. You need to keep your eyes peeled to read it nowadays, through the accumulated layers of paint:

Ja, die Bodenmosaiken aus der Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rom gibt's schon seit ca. 1150 und sind immer noch schick 😅

Restaurant abseits der Touristenrouten, das Essen ist entsprechend besser

Ich muss in den nächsten Monaten noch mal länger nach Rom in Archive, dann habe ich mehr Zeit, mir die Stadt anzuschauen. Ich freue mich schon sehr!

Der Film sagt das genaue Gegenteil: Zwang ("Struktur") führt oft zu oppositionellem Verhalten und Aggressivität, so dass Beruhigungsmittel gegeben werden müssen, weil die Pflegeenden sonst überfordert sind. In diesem Heim konnten bei allen Bewohnern die Psychopharmaka reduziert oder abgesetzt werden
