I was walking around the city centre for about 1 hour. Then I had to meet someone. Hope to come back some time!

Yesterday, when travelling from Rome to Freiburg, I changed trains at Milano Centrale. The monumental station opened in 1931 and intended to showcase the power of the Fascist regime. During the Holocaust, Italian Jews were deported from a secret platform, Binario 21.

The Trevi Fountain - a terrible tourist hot-spot, but this huge 18th century Baroque fountain (26 metres high and 49 metres wide, completed in 1762) is very beautiful and worth seeing!

Saturday was my last day in Rome, and I visited the breathtakingly beautiful Basilicata di Santa Maria Maggiore, whre Pope Francis is buried. To get rid of some of my sins, I passed through the holy gate.

An inscription on a cast iron pillar I photographed in Milan Central Station using both the Roman and the Fascist calendars. You need to keep your eyes peeled to read it nowadays, through the accumulated layers of paint:
Officine Aurora
ing. Della Carlina
1930 Milano VIII
Thank you for the detail! The station is very interesting in many ways, but I didn't have the time to see it all.
