π Student loans were designed to make higher education accessible to all not burden graduates for decades after.
ποΈ That is why I have tabled a Parliamentary motion pressing the Government to rethink these changes and move towards a fairer, more proportionate approach.

πgraduates are repaying earlier in their careers, reducing take-home pay at a time when housing costs, childcare and everyday bills are already stretching finances. This is no longer a manageable repayment system but a tax on aspiration.
2/3
πIn recent years weβve seen significant changes to the system including the freezing of repayment thresholds & continuous changes to terms & conditions, something no other lender would be permitted to do.

βοΈ I donβt know about anyone else, but I so needed the blue sky and sun today.
πΆ So many smiling faces and people out making the most of it.
πββοΈ Lovely half marathon, my first long run since my hospital stay.
π³ Followed by refuelling at The Saints.
πΆ Great to be out helping my mum and the Lib Dem team in Knottingley & Ferrybridge yesterday - managed to squeeze in a roast dinner too.
π Three fantastic women on the ballot paper there this May. Letβs get them elected.
π Out knocking on doors in Harrogate last night. Lots of lovely conversations and well wishes.

What does give me hope is the strength of our local community. Over the years, residents, councillors, and groups like the Pinewoods Conservation Group have come together to build a proper, grassroots, community-led campaign.
Iβll continue to work alongside them.

This feels like a David vs Goliath situation: a huge foreign multinational on one side, and local residents on the other - the people who will have to live with the consequences of our natural resources being exploited for private profit.

And finally, a big thank you to the brilliant team in my office for keeping everything ticking over while I was forced to take a short step back. Iβm on the mend now, and looking forward to getting fully back up to speed.
5/5 END
Iβm incredibly grateful to the healthcare staff whoβve looked after me with such care and kindness during this hospital stay. Our NHS isnβt perfect, but weβre incredibly lucky to have it.
4/5
Iβve mentioned before that I live with UC, but not always what that actually means day to day. Iβll spare you the graphic detail, but there are days when I have to slow right down or even stop, even though Iβm very much the sort of person who wants to keep going and be everywhere at once.
3/5
Until now itβs mostly been manageable, and Iβve been lucky not to end up in hospital. But this recent flare up, triggered by a gut infection, really knocked me for six. Iβve been out of action for over a week, a reminder of how unpredictable living with a chronic condition can be.
2/5
Living with ulcerative colitis is something that takes a real toll on my life. It took me over a decade to get a diagnosis, and even since then itβs often been a struggle to get the right IBD care. Itβs something Iβm going to try and talk about more.

There can be no more delay. The Government must act now to put this injustice right and deliver the fair treatment WASPI women deserve.
4/4.
For years, Liberal Democrats have called for fair compensation for WASPI women in line with the Ombudsmanβs findings.
The Govt has already shown it can change course on issues such as the Winter Fuel Payment, PIP, and the family farm tax. It must now do the same for women born in the 1950s.
3/4
By ignoring the independent Ombudsmanβs recommendations, the Government has once again turned its back on millions of pension-age women who were wronged through no fault of their own, arriving at the same unjust outcome.
2/4
Millions of WASPI women will feel utterly betrayed today. This decision is a hammer blow to women who believed they would finally be treated with fairness and dignity.

This week, I attended f40βs drop-in, ahead of the publication of the Schools White Paper.
Iβm pleased to support their call for fairer, increased education funding, alongside the reform and investment urgently needed to address the SEND crisis.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life.
Too often, national laws change while local authorities lack the power or funding to enforce them on the ground.
If restrictions on fireworks are tightened, the Govt must ensure councils have the resources to enforce those rules properly - otherwise it risks being little more than words on a page.
π£Attended the Campaign for Gigi drop-in in Parliament, backing urgent action to keep children safe in nurseries.
π£οΈCalling for mandatory CCTV, stronger Ofsted inspections, and clear safe-sleep training.
π¨βπ©βπ¦βπ¦ Supporting parents into work must go hand in hand with the highest childcare safety standards.
Last week, I joined ITVβs Last Orders to discuss key issues, including:
β
Northern Powerhouse Rail
β
Labourβs U-turns
β
AI and the future of social media
If you missed it, watch hereπ
Today I pressed the Leader of the House on the progress of the Assisted Dying Bill.
There is clear public support & a majority in the Commons, yet we hear rumours No10 now expect the Bill to fall.
I pushed to ask the PM to honour his promise and make time to deliver this overdue change in the law.
π¨Another Labour U-turn - this time on mandatory digital IDs. A policy doomed from the start.
It would have eroded civil liberties, cost billions, & pushed the country in the wrong direction.
I welcome the reversal, but it raises serious questions about Labourβs judgement and lack of a clear plan.
X has shown a blatant disregard for safety. Now its Grok AI is generating indecent images of women and children.
Ofcom is right to investigate, but any ban must be enforceable.
I pressed ministers for a clear plan to close loopholes, address VPN workarounds, and stop harmful content resurfacing.
Our freedom to travel shouldn't depend on where we live. It's time to end the postcode lottery so disabled people can make the journeys we want, when we need to make them.
